Lily-Mae & Gary

Hello, I’m Lily, in my artistic practice, I find great value in the process of art making and the emotions it evokes. I am fascinated with how different viewers of art can feel and connect to a single artwork, reflecting their unique perspectives and experiences. For me, creating art is a way of self-discovery and reflection. I think it is important to prioritise wellbeing and understanding ourselves, which I enjoy doing through my art making. I experiment with collaging, painting, embroidering, and drawing. Each medium offers its own language and can be used to reveal stories and emotions. Before creating my art, I gain inspiration from my connections with different people, things, and concepts. My work usually has more meaning and concept behind the work than what meets the eye. Being a part of this project has been an amazing opportunity. For me, the project has taught me a lot about the importance of creating a supportive community and growth (in all aspects of life). As a

group, we have formed a great community, full of inspiration, collaboration, and creativity. we created a space where everyone feels safe to produce work and express themselves through their art, highlighting personal growth and connection through the shared love for art. I have enjoyed watching work develop and amazing ideas make their way to reality.

Since the beginning of the project, GW has been creating works, creatively engaging in the project and loving to chat to all those around him. Joining the project to explore his creativity, GW has fully immersed himself into the project, producing work which makes him happy and excited. GW has had previous experience with glass art and crafts, he applied his skills and knowledge to this project when making art. From collage to painting, GW has put his all into everything he has made. GW is interested in painting and is always eager to improve his skillset when it comes to painting aiming to be better with each work he makes. When producing work, GW takes his time and wants to be proud of his work. Whilst making work, GW loves chatting to everyone around him and having a laugh in the sessions. There is lots of care taken when GW makes his work, and in all the marks he makes on the paper. For this project, nature and sunsets have been a big inspiration in the work GW produced. GW is fascinated with silhouettes of trees and flowers, which are painted in the foreground of a sun set or sunrise. Throughout the project, the starting tasks always end with blending watercolours, and creating unique sunsets!
