Jodie & Sharn
Hello, I’m Jodie! I am a digital artist and a second year Fine Art BA (HONS) student here at the University of Lincoln. After finding out about the art therapy module at a University of Lincoln open day, I was immediately drawn to the course. Previously, I had assisted in teaching children's art classes at Artivity (Market Deeping) and engaged in community events such as Youth Battle Lines (Peterborough). Working creatively alongside other adults would be a whole new experience for me.
I have, throughout my life (and often unconsciously) used art as therapy/ to express my inner thoughts and feelings. I believe that art therapy is a greatly underappreciated form of therapy for adults and throughout this project I have become greatly inspired by some of the professionals in this industry.
This project gave me the opportunity to engage with others and, as a result, has encouraged me to reflect on myself as an artist and to consider the kind of art I want to create following my graduation next year. As I am primarily a digital artist, this project has also offered me a reprieve from the screen and allowed me to witness the interplay of different mediums.
Becoming a facilitator this semester has felt like an absolute privilege. It feels like I am now part of this small but vibrant community at Lincolnshire Recovery Partnership. To create in a space with likeminded people is an extremely gratifying experience and something that I’ll undoubtedly miss now that the project has come to a close.
Thank you!
It was Sharn who proposed the title of this exhibition: "Flower Moon." Which refers to the first full moon of May. It is one of the most promising times in the moon cycle to manifest your dreams.

Sharn has allowed herself to become completely engrossed in the artistic process by bringing in elements of nature and spirituality. She has brought to our sessions an openness and versatility that has allowed us to explore the mediums that best resonate with her. From watercolour to acrylic to collage to clay, no stone was left unturned. This has allowed Sharn to create gorgeous scenes that are grand in scale yet draw you in to see the details. Her use of colour lends itself well to the name of this exhibition. Hues of pink, purple and blue enchant you.

Sharn has a naturally creative mind and has certainly helped to foster a friendly, judgement-free environment at turning point. It has been an absolute pleasure to work alongside Sharn in her first-time exploring art as an adult.
