ABOUT
I am a Fine Art student at the university of Lincoln whose work revolves around abstract paintings and tattoos. I have always used art as a creative outlet from escaping my own day to day life, the project as enabled me to become more confident in my own creative ability.
Working with WAWY is a groundbreaking experience that I am so lucky to be part of. I am grateful that I have the opportunity to work with such creative minds who are all so inspiring. The project has inspired my own art, as well as helped me to inspire others creativity. That is the beauty of the project, creative individuals working as one to create something so empowering. I have not expected the shift in my perspective of individuals in recovery to change so much whilst gaining valuable skills in the participatory arts industry. I am learning every day more and more about the processes of recovery and the connections that can be made through art. This project is allowing me to push myself out of my own comfort zone and move into all different mediums of art that I may not have before.
As a facilitator it is astounding to look at the project and see the amount of personal growth being developed, in terms of the service users as individuals, as well as their own artistic practises. I am honoured to be part of this project and it will always hold a special place in my heart; The memories I am making on this project will be ones I will never forget.
